OPENING DATE:
The Marsh Tavern, the original structure of today's resort, opened in 1769.

LOCATION:
The Equinox is located in Southern Vermont nestled between the Taconic and Green Mountains at 3567 Main Street, Historic Route 7A, Manchester Village, Vermont

ACCOMMODATIONS:
The Equinox has a total of 195 guest rooms including the Charles Orvis Inn, the 1811 House and Townhouses. Room categories include superior and deluxe. Most guest rooms are over-sized and offer breathtaking views of Equinox Mountain, the resort's seasonal gardens or the historical village of Manchester.

The Equinox’s main building houses 136 rooms, including suites such as the Cupola Suites and Green Mountain. The adjacent townhouses include 30 bedrooms comprised of ten luxury rooms with kitchens and fireplaces. The upscale Charles Orvis Inn contains nine one- and two-bedroom suites with gourmet kitchens, living rooms and marble Jacuzzis.

The 1811 House, a historic bed and breakfast, is perfectly located across from the main house of The Equinox. The former home of Abraham Lincoln’s granddaughter, the impeccably maintained 13-room 1811 House was originally built in the 1700’s and features Federal period styling with fireplaces, private porches, private baths, oriental rugs, authentic antiques and original artwork throughout the property. All rooms are air conditioned, most with 42” plasma TV’s, CD stereos, wireless high speed internet and in-room movies.

DINING:

Falcon Bar: The heart of the resort, it is a place to start and end the evening. The lounge extends through large French doors onto a luxurious deck replete with open-air fire pit. The Falcon Bar offers an extensive collection of single malt scotches and a comprehensive wine list with over 30 wines available in flights, or in three, six or ¼ liter servings. A variety of locally-sourced cheeses and delectable Knipschildt chocolates are offered.

Chop House: Chop House, serves up delectable steakhouse fare and a large selection of fine wines. Representative of a beautifully refined hunter’s lodge, the Chop House is warm and sensual with browns, burgundies and reds and old hardwood floors. Leather banquettes and chairs surround oversized tables designed to comfortably accommodate the typically oversized steak house fare. Chop House is located at the original site of the The Equinox House Hotel built by Franklin Orvis in 1853, and it maintains the original stone hearth.

Marsh Tavern: The showpiece of the hotel is this authentic tavern, which dates back to 1769. It is open daily for lunch, late lunch and dinner serving regional cuisine and fine spirits. There is cocktail and dinner service offered on the Marsh Tavern terrace through late night during July and September.

Dormy Grill: Open seasonally; the Dormy Grill is located in the clubhouse of the Golf Club at The Equinox serving casual lunches with breathtaking views of the golf course and mountain ranges.

Colonnade Dining Room: Open year-round, this elegant dining room serves a delectable New England breakfast spread and is also available for private catered affairs.

Private Dining: Facilities for private dining for up to 300 people are available throughout the hotel including The Rockwell Ballroom, The Colonnade, Marsh Tavern, The Equinox Pond Pavilion, the Taconic Tent and various meeting rooms.


SPA:
The Spa at The Equinox is a 13,000 square foot, intimate, personalized spa experience like no other in the Northeast, reflecting the transcendent beauty and nature of Vermont’s pristine environment in both its treatments and the new spa’s decor.

The Spa at The Equinox offers a full complement of activities and services including Reiki; herbal wraps; mud/algae treatments; salt glow scrubs; exfoliation treatments; essential oil treatments; nutritional counseling and body composition analysis. The facility also offers aqua aerobics, aerobic exercise classes and fitness treks. It houses Cybex machines and free-standing weights, cardiovascular equipment, sauna and steam rooms, and a 75-foot-long indoor lap pool.

HOTEL SERVICES:
Concierge service is available to arrange sightseeing, sporting activities, theater tickets and travel arrangements. The Equinox also offers laundry and dry cleaning, valet parking, room service.

FUNCTION / MEETING SPACE:
The Equinox has 10 individual rooms, including The Charles Orvis Inn boardroom, Colonnade Ballroom and Rockwell Room and a total of 18,500 square feet of space available for business meetings or private functions. The hotel also offers the latest audio/visual equipment and high-quality, in-house catering to ensure that every need is met and that guests’ corporate functions or events run smoothly.

ACTIVITIES:
The Equinox offers numerous activities including an 18-hole golf course with lessons available by PGA and LPGA Professional Joan McDonald and her staff. Guests are offered the rare opportunity to learn the sport of Archery at the resort’s Archery School, a first of its kind at a resort in New England which caters to archers of all levels. Also, guests at The Equinox are invited to try falconry, one of the world’s most ancient and distinguished sports, at The British School of Falconry, which is the nation’s first school of its kind to offer hands-on lessons. The Equinox offers visitors the opportunity to enjoy the unique Land Rover Experience Driving School which also features a dedicated Junior course for children up to 12 years of age. Offering a mountainous terrain along with New England’s most scenic setting as a backdrop, The Equinox’s Land Rover driving school is an added amenity outdoorsy-types can appreciate. Guests can also learn the finer points of fly-fishing at the world-famous Orvis Fly-Fishing School. The Orvis Shooting School offers private sporting clays shooting. Additionally the resort offers extensive hiking trails for all levels of trekking.

Three plexi-cushion tennis courts are available seasonally May-October, and lessons, clinics and tennis tournament scheduling can be arranged. Winter activities include cross-country skiing and snow-shoeing. There is also snowmobile touring on nearby land of the US Forest Service.

NEARBY ACTIVITIES & SITES:
The Manchester designer outlets are located only minutes from the resort. More than 100 designer outlets include Giorgio Armani, Ann Taylor, Brooks Brothers, Coach, J. Crew, Lilly Pulitzer, Polo Ralph Lauren and Tumi. The Village Shops at The Equinox, located just across the village green from the hotel, feature distinctive Vermont clothing, crafts and antiques. Manchester is widely known to be a haven for shoppers. Our shops and boutiques carry premium brands offering the finest variety of shopping in New England, and the specialty shops in Manchester Village offer unhurried shopping worth experiencing. The famous Vermont Country Store is within a half-hour’s drive of the hotel, along with 26 other fine antique shops.

Alpine ski packages are available to Bromley and Stratton mountains. Other Vermont ski areas include Pico Peak, Mount Snow, Killington and Okemo. Cross-country skiing is available at Hildene and snowshoeing is on-property. Mountain bike rentals, hiking trails, nearby private and semi-private horseback riding trail rides and lessons and canoeing excursions on the Battenkill River are available. There is exceptional trout fishing in the nearby Battenkill River, and The Equinox Pond offers a pristine setting, with an abundance of brown and rainbow trout. Grouse and deer hunting are also available in season. Guests can also take a scenic 5.2 mile Equinox Sky Line Drive to the top of Mount Equinox to enjoy panoramic views.

The area surrounding Manchester provides a wealth of opportunities for the performing arts including theaters, playhouses, and a variety of museums and special exhibits located nearby. Hildene, a 24-room Georgian Revival estate, was home to Lincoln's descendants until 1975, and is located one mile south of The Equinox.

RESTORATION PROGRAM:
The Equinox is a blend of six different architectural styles that have been erected, modified and painstakingly preserved throughout its 238-year history. In 2007, HEI Hotels & Resorts commenced a multi-million dollar refurbishment of the resort led by renowned designer Geoffrey Bradfield to bring this historic property into the 21st century.


CONSERVATION PROGRAM:
In November 1993, the owners of The Equinox formed the non-profit The Equinox Preservation Trust to protect and preserve nearly 900 acres of The Equinox Mountain. As part of its conservation effort, The Equinox opened an on-site office for the Vermont Institute of Natural Science (VINS). Throughout the year VINS offers hotel guests and the local community a series of natural history programs, led by VINS educators and naturalists. Programs include wildlife studies, nature walks, wild animal seminars and more.

The Equinox is readily accessible by air, train or car. Nearby airports are located in Rutland, VT; Burlington, VT; and Albany, NY, and are served by several major airlines. The hotel is located 204 miles from New York City (approximately a four-hour drive), 189 miles from Boston (a three-hour drive) and 146 miles from Hartford, CT (a two-hour drive). There is frequent train service to Albany and Rutland, VT (winter only).
